Beautiful House Maps

If there's anyone who can pull off cover lines like "The New Kitchen Table, " "Preppy Fabrics: They're Back!" and "Wild About American Style" it's House Beautiful. (No, it is not, in fact, Dwell.) The April issue includes a nifty eight-page fold-out infographic that decodes the complex family tree of American design, from the roots—Edith Wharton and The Decoration of Houses, which was published shortly after House Beautiful's 1896 inaugural issue—through the Hadley school and up to current names such as Miles Redd and Diamond Baratta. The magazine also tells Curbed that they plan on bringing 10 posters to industry events, collecting autographs from some of the designers represented, and donating them to various design schools, charity auctions, and more.
